[ABOUT RENEE]
Renee Cologne started RC Shelter, LLC out of her love for beautiful things and her need to control clutter, not necessarily in that order.
I am a self-confessed neat freak. I like order, I work well when things are organized and everything has its place.
My early schooling supported this personality trait. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Music in Recording and Engineering. I then moved to New York where I pursued a career in music.
I was, and am, a singer and musician. I have toured the world as a background singer for MeatLoaf and gotten to hear my voice on TV and radio commercials. I made my own records and got more and more into the production of music, likening it to creating “aural rooms of sound” – creating imaginary rooms that you could “see” through listening to the music.
But, I had grown up in a family of home improvement junkies and do-it-yourself-ers and always had a passion for REAL rooms too. Finally, I decided to do something about it. I went back to school at Parsons School of Design for Interior Design and got a job working for Thad Hayes (an Architectural Digest Top 10 Interior Designer). He was an incredible mentor over the 7 years I was there.
The completion of this arc has been my discovery of home staging. In staging, one of the goals is to create a pleasing interior, but as important is the road to get there. I thrive on creating order out of chaos and am calm under pressure and stress – traits that I think home owners find helpful when they feel overwhelmed during the selling and buying process.
In 2011, I went through a rigorous program to get accredited as a Professional Home Stager and decided to combine all of my previous experiences to form RC Shelter, LLC. It is my passion to transform space and bring out the best in a home; to provide homeowners, buyers or sellers with a special place to call their own. To give them . . . Shelter.
